San Diego Estate Planning & Probate Attorney
Law Office of Linda C. Schumacher • Compassionate Estate Planning and Administration for Over 20 Years!
Ms. Schumacher was admitted to the California State Bar in 1994. Shortly thereafter, she earned a “Diploma in Taxation” from the University of San Diego School of Law’s Graduate Tax Program. Linda was elected by her peers to serve as Co-Chair of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association, a position she held for two years (2002 and 2003).
With more than 20 years of experience administering trusts and estates, Attorney Linda Schumacher has a proven track record of success. Recent successes include: (1) The recovery of millions of dollars worth of Los Angeles real estate which the Decedent had transferred to non-existent entities (purported partnerships) prior to his death, recovered for his children.* (2) The recovery of real estate which the Decedent transferred to his girlfriend several years prior to his death, recovered for his children.* (3) Admission of “lost” Wills to probate * and (4) Successful mediation and litigation of claims of fiduciary (trustee/executor) malfeasance.
* (Fact-specific case. Results not typical.)
Ms. Schumacher’s depth of experience administering trusts and estates gives her a huge advantage when it comes to the drafting of thoughtfully prepared estate planning documents. Simply put, because of her decades of experience, she knows what works and what doesn’t. Perhaps most importantly, however, Linda takes the time to understand your objectives, and provide you with a thorough explanation of the various options, and the pros and cons of each, so that you are better able to make educated decisions about the ultimate disposition of your assets. For example, if you have young or immature beneficiaries (perhaps children or grandchildren), Linda will explore with you options for allowing your beneficiaries to "grow into" their inheritance, thereby protecting them from themselves and their own immaturity. Similarly, special care is given to the complexities of blended families, planning for beneficiaries with special needs, and end-of-life decisions.
Don’t want to drive Downtown? Linda will come to you (anywhere in San Diego County)!
As a San Diego native, Ms. Schumacher enjoys year-round water skiing and wake boarding, often spending weekends on El Capitan Reservoir with her family, riding her horse with friends on local trails, and watching the beautiful Southern California sunsets from her backyard. She is also an acomplished equestrian, and has competed at the National level in multiple disciplines, including “western pleasure” and “reining.”
For many years, Linda and her Arabian horse, Starr Bucks, also served as reserve peace officers with the Chula Vista Mounted Police.
